During world war two, London was bombed heavily. kids were evacuated to the countryside to escape the bombing. the people who remained hid from from bombs in the london underground. However, almost 35 000 the people of london were killed, & approximately 50,000 were seriously injured. One of the most popular places to visit in London is Buckingham Palace, which has been the official london residence of the british monarchy since 1837. The palace was initially opened to the public in 1993 & the changing of the guard has proved especially popular with them. This ceremony takes place in front of the palace at 11. 30 every day in summer & every other day during the winter. Buckingham Palace is located in Westminster & its accessible by tube & bus. Because its such a enormous location, London is extremely simple to get to. in fact, its well-connected by rail & has some large train stations, containing London Bridge, London Victoria, London Euston & Liverpool st. in addition to this, the city also has 3 major airports, Heathrow; Stanstead & Luton. It suffered bad damage from bombs along this time & 100s of 1000s of kids in the city were evacuated out to the country side to avoid the bombs. The most severe bombing occured between 7 September 1940 & 10 May 1941. London is renowned for its wonderful museums and art galleries. One of the most well-known museums is the v and a, which was built in 1852. it’s the world’s biggest museum of decorative arts and design with a permanent collection of over 4 1/2 million pieces. these days, the museum covers a huge 12. 5 acres and 145 galleries. it’s a big tourist attraction and, in 2006, it had 2,400,000 visitors. London has some of the perfect stores in the world. Whether you are looking for designer fashion, souvenirs or tasty food, you are sure to find the activities you want here.
