Artist Molly Larkey’s Art Work and Paintings at the Saatchi Gallery

December 24th, 2009

Molly Larkey’s The Revolutionary playfully incorporates elements of formalist abstraction with its symbolic subject matter. Constructed from a variety of materials, Larkey gives her sculpture a rainbow treatment of brightly coloured paint, each rough hewn component compiling as a topsy-turvy monument, inciting both Modernist art history and hippie psychedelia. With her theatrical assemblage, Larkey frames these disparate ideas as humorously dysfunctional; relating the dynamics of power with the festivity of grass roots endeavour.

RMIT Gallery- A most exciting public art gallery

December 23rd, 2009

Art can stay in your mind long after visiting this gallery. If it doesn’t make you happy it will puzzle or challenge your thoughts. Visit the most vibrant art gallery found at Melbourne, The RMIT Gallery, which often presents unique exhibition programmes of Australian and International Design such as fashion, architecture, fine art, craft, technology and new media, which coincide with floor talks, lectures and discussions. The RMIT Gallery is opened to the public from 11am to 5pm from Mondays to Fridays, Saturdays from 12am to 5pm and is closed on Sundays and holidays. The various exhibitions organized by the gallery will bring various forms of art into the centre stage. Located at 344, Swanston Street, Melbourne the gallery is easy to find as it is diagonally opposite Melbourne Central Railway Station and can be reached by trams. There is limited parking space available at the Gallery. The frequent exhibitions will feature many compelling contemporary artists and their invincible artwork. The most remarkable thing is that admission is free and can be a one way stop for entertainment and delight as well as knowledge on artifacts, some of it based on Australian ethnic groups. The RMIT Gallery is a cultural portal presenting Australian and international design and fashion and architecture, new media and technology. The exhibitions are occasionally conducted on current interests such as sports or world affairs. The RMIT complex also includes a state of the art auditorium where discussions and lectures are organized. The cultural resources available at the gallery will be very helpful for anyone interested in an in-depth study of the indigenous art of Australia. A visit to a spa too may help you rediscover yourself in a similar way as art would. As much as its exotic name promises, Chuan Spa in Melbourne , located at the Langham Hotel conjures thoughts of spirituality and relaxation through its great roster of treatments. It offers numerous types of massages, and treatments including acupressure and hydrotherapy, that typically end in calmed bliss of a luxury Melbourne Spa.

Art Gallery Promotion

December 22nd, 2009

Art promotion or a gallery exhibition is often a normal event in the art world. The same goes for a studio or gallery promotion. Unlike a one time, spectacle event celebration of an artist’s new visual art, performance art, sculpture or installation collection, an art gallery is a business establishment. Just like any, it needs a marketing plan and promotional programs to gain profit. When a gallery’s potential market is set in a local residential or mixed neighborhood smaller, more affordable print collaterals can create more of a personal and effective connection with customers. Below are some ideas on how to promote an art gallery or studio using small print materials. •    Postcards-Postcards are handy, highly artistic promotional mediums. Materials such as these can be well-received and appreciated, particularly when they feature famous art. Each postcard design can be unique. There is no need to go beyond budget on materials like this.   Online print services today offer cheap postcards printing for bulk orders. What’s more, the design; such as post card dimensions, orientation, finish even paper stock can be customized according to a gallery’s image or concept. Postcards are highly personable and can be mailed as a birthday, anniversary, or thank you gift. •    Catalogs- Printing an art catalog not only serves a means for transmitting information but it is visually stimulating as well. Art catalogs can be given away as gifts for loyal customers. For first time artists and dealers, they can serve as nifty gifts that may increase recall or referral rates. Each catalog can showcase the gallery’s most successful shows, priciest collections, art sales, or it can be kept at the gallery for customer reference on art prizes, specifications, artists and availability. •    Calendars-Art calendars are an effective medium to showcase art, convey information, promote a gallery and serve a pragmatic purpose. Sending them as gifts to customers strengthens personal relationships and customer relations. Calendar prints are easy to design and print with custom or standard options offered by print companies.

Donald Vann Celebrating the Holiday Season in Greeley, ColoradoBy Jeannene Bernard      Donald was born and raised near Stilwell, Oklahoma, inside the Cherokee Nation, but it is more than just his Native American heritage he strives to share. He has spent much of his life in nature first camping and hunting with his Grandfather as a young boy, then as an artist studying nature and wildlife up close. Donald draws his greatest inspiration from the earth, sky and the rhythms of nature. His creations have qualities that allow the viewer to share some of the inner facets of the world as he sees it.  Donald was honorably discharged from Fort Hood, Texas in March of 1973. He was so impressed with the surrounding country; he decided to make his home and studio in Austin. This is the studio where most of his visions have been transferred to art. Although his paintings are sold in galleries in several areas of the United States, Donald enjoys going on the road, meeting new people and keeping up with collectors.  When asked what would he like people to know about him, Donald said he has met lots of nice people and all people are important to him. He has had a good life and has been able to share it with loving friends and family. He is thankful for the ability to enjoy the things he is able to do in his life now and hopes to continue for many years to come.  To preview Donald’s art view his website at: www. donaldvann. com or join us on you tube at www. youtube/user/DonaldVann. A Visit to Your Local Art Gallery

December 18th, 2009

If you are looking for a way to spend a quiet afternoon doing something new, think about making a visit to a local art gallery. I think you will be glad you did for a lot of reasons. An art gallery is a great place to spend time and to learn. Think about all of the new things you can discover by taking the time to see new exhibits at a local art gallery. You can learn new forms of art or see new examples of the oldest and most well known forms of art. Maybe you can visit an art gallery at a time when the artist will be there to answer questions about their work. There is no better time to feed your curious mind than by talking with an artist. Have you been aspiring to learn a new artistic skill? If so, get yourself to an art gallery as often as you can. Be inspired by the work of those who have done the things you are hoping to do. Take notes, ask questions, see if you can sign up for a class by one of the local artists. There is no better way to become an artist yourself. If supporting local business and economy is important to you, then visiting a local art gallery should be on your list of ways to show support. Let the local artists know that you care about and appreciate the work they do. Remind them that your community would not be the same without their efforts. If you are looking to decorate a spot in your home you can even consider purchasing a piece or two of art from the local art gallery. There is no better way to support the local business than to buy from it. Visiting an art gallery is a great way to get you, your family and your friends out of the rut of doing the same activities for recreation. Next time you have a free afternoon or evening consider passing up the movie theatre or the bookstore and choosing an art gallery instead. There are so many new things to be learned and appreciated. Expand your mind and your interests to include good art. You will never regret developing yourself and your family into people who can recognize and appreciate important elements that reflect your culture. If you are a parent, begin instilling in your children the value of visiting a local art gallery. Help them to learn why art is important to our culture and encourage them to increase the things they care about to include more than just games and movies. Adding a little cultural experience like visiting an art gallery will be good for you and for them. The artist whose work fills the art gallery you love will be the most appreciate person that you decided to visit. So look up an art gallery and plan to make a visit the nextchance you get.
