Modern Bedroom Sets – Taking Modern Art to Bed

January 28th, 2010

Modern bedroom sets aren’t for everyone, yet if you have an appreciation for fine lines in art and architecture, chances are good you really love modern bedroom sets. Now, you may not know how to create the perfect modern bedroom setting and you may think it is something the designers of the stars are responsible for, but you can have this feel in your home as well, with a little careful shopping.

In many cases, you need to think of modern bedroom sets as making your bedroom like a museum. Modern bedroom sets and furnishings allow you to create a modern museum of art in your bedroom. Remember, in modern furniture form follows function, so the pieces are obviously ready to do their job, but the museum feeling comes in the fact that they are lacking the embellishments of more ornate designs. Instead, modern bedroom sets and furnishings are clean and crisp in design and are typically signature pieces that can either stand well on their own or work well with others.

Because modern bedroom sets and furnishings are not ornate, you can often mix and match them to create the look you want in your museum environment. One of the great things about modern furniture is that things that were just designed a year or two ago will still work with pieces that were created back in the 20’s by the masters of the modernist movement.

You should start with the bed, itself, since this will be the center of your bedroom museum exhibit. The things to look for in modern bedroom sets are sleek design and contrasting colors. Generally the colors of modern bedroom sets are going to be black, white and red. That may mean black wood, white bedding and a red accent pillow. Or you could look for bedroom sets with metal frames, black bedding and white glass accents on the headboard. There are many options to have these contrasting colors be the centerpiece for your bedroom setting.

Next think of the supporting pieces of furniture you need in your bedroom. It is possible that you may find complete modern bedroom sets that have all the pieces you need to complete the look you had been dreaming of for your room. Before you go out to shop, you should make a list of the things you need, in order to have all the storage you would like, as well as any other accent furniture pieces that will complete the look you are shooting for. Again these modern bedroom sets should stick to the contemporary material and color scheme of white or black woods, metal and glass accents. You may well be able to find some very contemporary dressers and pieces with gold metal accenting that will offer a very sharp look.

Not only with the modern furniture can you create a unique artistic taste, but you can also display some of your own art pieces upon the artistic modern bedroom sets. If you are a collector of sculpture or other displayable pieces of art, you can use modern accent tables to display those real pieces of art you have collected, on their own pedestals, to show them off in full gallery style.

December 29th, 2009

Contemporary art has gained a lot of importance in modern households. It has become one of the most sought after household items and it has been recognized in every aspect of human life. Modern art is nowadays a tool for interpersonal communication and has far reaching effects. The increased number of persons visiting exhibitions and art galleries clearly signifies the rise in contemporary art importance. It is an indicator about the awareness of art amongst the people.

Large appreciation of masses and easy understandability are the main reasons of success of modern art. However, contemporary art critics raised an argument that some arts should be reserved for certain group of people. They argued that true appreciation of art can come from people who can understand modern art. In other words, only an artist can understand the value of an art. It is true in some cases, but an artist would like to get appreciation from as many people as possible. Contemporary art will continue to express publicly understood ideas so as to get the maximum appreciation from the public.

Modern Landscaping Design

December 19th, 2009

A Memorial-area art collector residing in a chic modern home wanted his house to be more visible from the street. His yard was full of trees, and he asked us to consider removing them and developing a more modern landscape design that would fully complement the exterior of his home. He was a personal friend of ours as well, and he understood that our policy is to preserve as many trees as possible whenever we undertake a project. However, we decided to make an exception in his case for two reasons. For one thing, he was a very close friend to many people in our company. Secondly, large trees simply would not work with a landscape reflective of the modern architecture that his house featured.

The house had been built as story structure that was formed around a blend of unique curves and angles very reminiscent of the geometric patterns common in modern sculpture and art. The windows had been built deliberately large, so that visitors driving up to the house could have a lighted glimpse into the interior, where many sculptures and works of modern art were showcased. The entire residence, in fact, was meant to showcase the eclectic diversity of his artistic tastes, and provide a glimpse at the elegant contents within the home.

He asked us to create more modern look to the landscape that would complement the residence with patterns in vegetation, ornamentation, and a new lighted water fountain that would act like a mirror-image of the home. He also wanted us to sculpt the features we created in such a way as to center the eye of the viewer and draw it up and over the landscape to focus on the house itself.

The challenge was to develop a truly sophisticated modern landscaping design that would compliment, but in no way overpower the façade of the home. In order to do this, we had to focus very carefully on the geometric appearance of the planting areas first. Since the vegetation would be surrounding a very large, circular stone drive, we took advantage of the contours and created a sense of flowing perspective. We were then very careful to plant vegetation that could be maintained at a very low growth height. This was to prevent vegetation from behaving like the previous trees which had blocked the view of the house. Small hedges, ferns, and flowers were planted in winding rows that followed the course of the circular stone driveway that surrounded the fountain.

We then centered this new modern landscape plan with a very sophisticated contemporary fountain. We chose a circular shape for the fountain both to center the eye and to work as a compliment to the curved elements in the home’s exterior design. We selected black granite as the building material, partly because granite speaks to the monumental, and partly because it is a very common material for modern architecture and outdoor contemporary sculpture. We placed the fountain in the very center of the driveway as well, which had the effect of making the entire landscape appear to converge toward the middle of the home’s façade. To add a sense of eclectic refinement to the fountain, we then polished the granite so that anyone driving or walking up to the fountain would see a reflection of the home in the base. To maintain consistency of the circular shape, we radius cut all of the coping around the fountain was all radius cut from polished limestone. The lighter color of the limestone created an archetypal contrast of light and darkness, further contributing to the modern theme of the landscape design, and providing a surface for illumination so the fountain would remain an established keynote on the landscape during the night.

All equipment for the fountain was hidden behind the home so that it would operate silently. For lighting, we used fiber optic cables that wrapped around the circumference of the fountain’s interior. This created the appearance of light rising in a perfect circle out of the black granite base, and illuminated the water with a sparkling effect that naturally focused the landscape and all of its surrounding features onto the modern architecture of the home.

The home itself now looks almost like a modern art gallery, with the landscaping forms that surround it giving it just enough of a natural touch to create a sense of organic fluidity, and with the lit fountain as the focal point that unites curvature and angles in a sense of geometric unity, grounding, and centeredness.

Contemporary Art For Your Home And Where To Find It

December 9th, 2009

Contemporary art has gained a significant importance in modern households. It has become very popular in contemporary households and is recognized in every aspect of human life. Contemporary art has been omnipresent; it is recognized as a tool for interpersonal communication and has had far reaching effects. The increased attendance in art exhibitions and unprecedented sales of various art forms signifies the importance contemporary art has been receiving. It is an indicator about the awareness of art amongst the general public.

The major reason of success of contemporary art is that it is easily understood and appreciated by the masses. The accessibility has become easy for the masses as it is released in numerous copies and forms like disks and books etc. Such mass production of art has made art more popular, while preserving its unique values. Original paintings which were a distant dream for common people at one time are now accessible through galleries. It has further increased the number of admirers for the art.

However there is an argument raised by the contemporary art critics about reservation of some art form for certain group of people. Their argument is that the true appreciation of some art form can come only from some people who can understand them. In other words an artist can only understand the value of an art. This might be true in some cases but not in all, as a creator would like to get appreciated from as many people as possible. Modern art works today are created by many people, and are made for many people. There are various examples of successful groups who present art together and to as many people as possible. Thus, it can be easily concluded that contemporary art forms will continue to express publicly understood ideas so as to be appreciated by as many as possible.

A play, a novel, a music composition, film, or a painting can be successful irrespective of the views of artists or critics. It solely depends how it has been able to touch your emotions and has expressed itself to the general public.

There are various ways of acquiring modern art today . Online auctions are one of the ways where by abstract arts, oil-based painting, and impression arts can be purchased. Before buying any art form it is necessary to do some homework on what art you would like to collect and what appreciation you are looking for in that art. One can do any amount of extensive search on the internet for the categories of art forms to be collected. There are some other ways also like libraries, magazines etc which can give you more information about your favorite category.

One has to be really careful while purchasing art as there are lots of fakes circulating for a popular art. However one way to find about the genuineness of the art is to appoint an appraiser for the art you would like to purchase. Big auction houses like Sotheby uses the same technique for all the art forms before putting it up for sale. Online auctions like eBay are the tricky ones, and in this case you should directly communicate with the art seller to find out more about the art. Online art auctions usually keep a track record of the art seller’s sales history and can help you to determine whether the seller is a reputable person.

Modern Art Vs. Contemporary Art

November 2nd, 2009

The success of a piece of art depends on how deftly it connects with the audience. If an artwork successfully communicates its message, it is considered to be a masterpiece. Some of the most artistic works of art began flowering in the 19th century till 1970. The flowering of modern art thus began in this era consequently leading the artists to move away from the traditional practices and emphasize more on portrayal of emotion on canvas. Post 1970, modern art preferred being called contemporary art. This includes any art that has been created after 1970 till the present age.

Modern art is not synonymous to contemporary art. The former encompasses only those works that have been created in the first half of the 20th century. Cubism, Futurism, Constructivism- they all form a part of modern art. Contemporary art, on the other hand, signifies those works done at the present time or in the very recent past. The best thing about today’s art is that it is bound by no rigid tradition and has the liberty to experiment with various styles.

Ever since the two world wars took place, there has been a surge of art movements- Abstract Expressionism,   Pop Art, Post-modernism, Minimalism, and Feminist Art. The number of art movements has grown in numbers in recent times. It’s now common to come across avant-garde movements surfacing with new names every year. The one movement that created quite an uproar in recent times was that of Abstract Expressionism. The followers of this movement believed that art was created just to convey their own feelings and had no relation with the external world.

However, there is a section of people who does not consider modern art as art in the true sense of the term. Many people consider landscape and nature portrayals as the true art form. When modern and contemporary artists create something that challenges their imagination, they question the idea of their being an art.

As a matter of fact, abstract art needs proper understanding and intellect to decode its hidden meaning. Understanding the concept of the artist and appreciating the work on that basis lays the foundation for a successful modern art representation.

The When and How of Modern Art

October 29th, 2009

Over and over again, there have been debates surrounding the origin of modern art. Some believe it to have originated in the initial years of the 20th century while others claim that modern art refers to contemporary art which has its roots in the recent past, i.e. around 1950. According to the Tate, modern art begins in 1900.

It cannot be that one fine morning in 1900 gave way to modern art. The inception of modern art can be much ahead of 1900. In 1863, Édouard Manet painted Olympia- a portrait of a Paris prostitute. Many critics claim that Manet’s style in the painting is queerly flat, displaying lack of emotion and even of desire. This off-the-track painting is regarded to be the pioneer of modern art by some critics. But if Manet bore a different style then how can one classify the radicalism of The Death of Sardanapalus (1827)- an orgy of sex and drugs floating free of pictorial gravity?

On a rational level, there is one artist who can truly be called modern- the Spanish artist, Francesco Goya. Known for his depiction of madness and war, Goya continued to surprise his admirers till his death in 1828. However, Italy can take the entire debate even further back to the disturbing realism of Caravaggio, who died in 1610.

If modern art is all about originality and novel experiments, then Michelangelo (1475-1564) stands unparalleled. It was he who pioneered the idea of artistic originality. If the current generation artists pride themselves on abstract art, then Michelangelo’s Rondanini Pietà is none the less abstract than Brancusi.

Herein rests the irony. Once you push modern art to Michelangelo, the term becomes meaningless. Every generation tries to break away from the past. When we admire art as modern, we do so because it appears to be urgent and meaningful in the current scenario. The same can be applied to a cave painting or a Frank Stella sculpture.

Ode to Art

October 16th, 2009

Why would anybody buy art from my art gallery? Out of charity reasons? Charity is not a very popular word in the current realm of crisis. Who needs art anyway? The snobs? Maybe the snobs. I think that that there is a common tendency to lose the faith in the rapidly depreciating high tech toys like plasma tv, iPhones, youPhones and other half hazarldy built toys.

Art and Art Galleries is what can provide a status symbol these days. Imagine having guests at your newly renovated most modern apartment. There is no TV. You don’t even have a stereo system. All you have is an old gramophone and a collection of records. This is double WOW. Guests are nervously swallowing their saliva in powerless envy. How brave. How original. You stand there in the spot light of fame.

The walls of your rebellious home are decorated with modern art. I do not mean those painting bought at tourists squares in Paris and other pop cities. I am talking authentic, natural art works collected by the means of internet research.

Your walls are decorated by brilliant artworks of artists from badly suffered Eastern Europe. Well, if you want a good painting you need to find an artist with a  bleeding heart. I think that the true artist is the one who suffers the most. Hey. Try to find the suffering ones in North America. They would sing a poem of a cold burger or better yet, they would paint in oil the sadness of a cold burger. This is not going to make you stand out. Your home must become an art gallery. A gallery of deep revelations and the pain the must go with them. Knowledge, love and pain are all related. They are all from the same family. They are Siamese triplets.

You collect art. The old record is playing the forgotten tune. The fireplace emanates the deep odor of burnt wood. The semi dark apartment with most original paintings highlighted in the fashionably selected lights make you proud and victorious.

‘I ran my own art gallery’ you say casually and look in the mirror. This is a very pleasant thing to say. You repeat louder: ‘I ran my own art gallery’. I like to buy art and sell art. It makes me feel important.

Let’s put all the sarcasm aside. These are the days when we start doubting the value of overpriced techno toys the return to art is not the answer but a clue. We need clues as the old world model is shattering. Art galleries will prevail. Those who buy art and sell art will too.

October 11th, 2009

These galleries are characteristically open to members of the public, to support cultural education and other enrichment.

Modern abstract artwork – the perfect choice for your home décor!

September 14th, 2009

Home decoration represents a subject of interest for a lot of people, especially when it involves modern art. In general, art exists to cultivate our taste for all that is beautiful and remind us of the things that are unique in life. Choosing oil paintings with abstract motives for your home décor definitely represents a great idea and, luckily, there are some pretty amazing creations to be found over the Internet. Take a few moments and visit Bawadina Heritage Art Gallery; you will be surprised at how beautiful those oil paintings truly are and allow yourself a short period of time in order to savor their uniqueness. What makes these art pieces so recommended for home decoration is the multitude of intricate Arabian patterns found in each and every painting.

Perhaps one of the most interesting things hidden behind these oil paintings represents their history. While you’re trying to decide which of the paintings you want for your home decoration project, stop for a moment and read about the story of these Arabian patterns. You will suddenly find yourself in the Arabian Desert, imagining how Bedouin women moved from place to place, impressing with their original creations and patterns. Today, these patterns have become famous all over the world, sometimes being even envied by artists with experience. There are widely appreciated by those who have a passion for home décor and it’s not for nothing that they are often chosen to fit the existing furniture in ones house. For a lot of people, having these beautiful Arabian patterns decorating their walls means the world. For others, it simply represents an attraction to art, oil paintings and quality above anything else.

We can all agree that a home décor is always improved with the addition of art. Given this fact, you can understand why so many people want to purchase oil paintings for home decoration. By visiting this rather splendid online gallery, they are able to discover original paintings, being definitely impressed with the quality of the canvas on which the Arabian patterns are painted and the diversity of colors offered. A home décor will look completely different the moment a few oil paintings are hung, the difference being clearly visible. Abstract artwork is always a sign of good taste and that is exactly what this art gallery has to offer. They have managed to take abstract art to a whole new level, basing the oil paintings they provide to interested customers on one of the most important things in the world: heritage.
